Spoon Bending with the Funkmeyers: Learn The 3 Steps

So after the festival ended and Meet the Funkmeyers had its run, we were faced with a dilemma. There were people interested in making a TV show and we weren’t sure what direction to turn in. We were kinda waiting around to see what would happen and the momentum started dying; neither Jenny nor I like to put our lives in other people’s hands, so we decided to just go for it ourselves and make the new reality ourselves. Funkmeyers.com was created and we started making our own shows.

We met with Jake McCook and discussed making a group of videos on spoon bending that we could ultimately compile and turn into a DVD to sell. Without further ado, we shot the video and made it happen. This is the first video in the series and we love it for a couple of reasons.

One: The style is great. It’s catchy and quick and sweet and stylish. It’s fun to watch and it effectively teaches the spoonbending technique.

Two: We learned a great lesson. What we had been doing was waiting around, getting comments from people, seeing what direction we should go in. By actually making something, we had something concrete for people to comment on and we got the comment that our shows need to focus more on US then on spoon bending: why we spoon bend, why we’re into it, how we got into it, etc. We made more of a straightforward spoon bending instructional. What can we say? The people need more Funkmeyers!

So the lesson of this episode is, just keep moving forward. Create, tweak, create, tweak.
