Bicycle Fixing, DIY Spirit, The Joys of Carlessness
In today’s episode, we cover:
-The Bicycle Kitchen AKA the dopest bike-fixin’ spot in LA
-The joys of doing things yourself
-Why bicycles are amazing
-How magical life can be
So today we spent much of the day fixing/building our bicycle at the Bicycle Kitchen, which is this awesome community bike-fixing place. They don’t fix your bike for you–instead, they teach you how to fix your own bike. It’s all run by volunteers and they charge $7/hour for stand time and it’s just an all around awesome vibe and center of empowerment.
The going got a little tough at times because we had major front brake issues, but we made it happen Funkmeyer style and decided to show off the place for today’s video.
We hope to inspire you to take back your life and become more self-sufficient. The necessities of life are really quite learnable, especially in the age of the ‘Net and it just feels so damn good to be a handy person who knows how to take care of themselves.
We were going to have a beautiful finish to the show but Jenny hit the stop button and we thought well, that’s it.
That’s it.
WE LOVE YOU!
Jenny & Otis Funkmeyer
