Boogaloo 101: DVD and Download
Don't forget! Funkateers get mad discounts... You should become one!
Ahhh man… the b-b-boogaloo. That funk baby. Boog style. Makes me think of Popin Pete and Boogaloo Sam. That shoulder prep. The hitch. The sway. Getting the momentum going to lead from a walkout to a single-leg roll into a head roll into a full boogaloo roll and then accent it with a hard pop. That’s what’s on *my* mind.
If this means nothing to you, well, it will soon. Let’s just keep it at that. Boogaloo 101 is in my mind the best way for the average person, with no previous introduction to boogaloo or popping to get in real deep on the foundation of what makes the Electric Boogaloo style dance. I’ve watched Skeet’s videos 100 times, Pete’s 200 times, and Suga Pop’s 300 times and it’s in my bones at this point.
I think what I bring to the table is the fact that I come from a background where this dance is not naturally in me. I really had to learn it. So I have really learned everything in a way that I can share it. I know how to teach it. I know where the mistakes get made cuz I made ‘em all. I know what it’s like to feel awkward and weird and I also know what it’s like to persevere and really learn.
I think Boogaloo style, especially for funk music and gfunk and anything with a hard clap and a serious bass line, is the ultimate dance style on the planet. It just has it. It just does it for me. I hope I can share it with you. It’s a beautiful thing. Keep it on the one. Let it ride. The music ain’t goin’ nowhere. Just lay back and let it chill. Namean? Yah.. you do.
